From Vision to Gurukul

Our Story

During a journey across Bharat, the founder had the opportunity to experience its people, culture and civilisational heritage more closely. His search later extended to Southeast Asia, where he studied Bharat’s ancient cultural influence. His research into Bharatiya mandirs revealed remarkable achievements across many fields and led to one clear understanding: at the heart of Bharat’s progress was its education system.

Years later, while searching for a school rooted in Bharatiya knowledge and values for their own children, the founders could not find what they envisioned. They left their IT and tourism businesses and moved to their ancestral village. Living close to nature, farming and learning through everyday life gradually laid the foundation of the Gurukul.

In 2019, a few children joined them. The positive changes seen in the children encouraged families from across Bharat to seek admission. A home built for 30 children soon welcomed nearly 60 children between the ages of 4 and 16.

With no supporting staff, the founders managed everything themselves, from cooking and cleaning to teaching and caring for every child. The Gurukul neither charged fees nor accepted donations. When their businesses were severely affected during the lockdown, continuing without sufficient infrastructure and financial support became difficult. With heavy hearts, they had to pause the residential Gurukul for a while.

But the vision never ended.

Today, Deval Vidya Mandir is beginning a new chapter in Pune district.
The new Gurukul will initially welcome 100 children. It will carry forward the commitment to education rooted in Bharatiya wisdom, nature, experience and life.

As a residential Gurukul can serve only a limited number of children, Deval Vidya Mandir is also using technology to make this knowledge accessible worldwide through programs rooted in ancient Bharatiya wisdom.
